Meet The “Home For Christmas” Team

Some of designer Synan O’Mahony’s work

Celtic Woman’s latest project HOME FOR CHRISTMAS is about to come to life at The Helix in Dublin. Producers, Directors, Designers, Technicians, and Crew are working like Santa’s elves to prepare an unforgettable Christmas special being shot on Aug. 7.

Here’s a little background on some of the key people involved with this very special production!

Celtic Woman’s Executive Producer Dave Kavanagh is overseeing an incredible crew working on Celtic Woman’s 8th special for PBS and DVD release. Celtic Woman’s first Christmas project titled “A Christmas Celebration” yielded a CD and DVD of platinum status.  (photo above) Dave is happy to be joined by long time business partner Jonathan Hochwald/Madstone Productions as well as Ian Ralfini/Manhattan Records and Joe Campbell/PBS who will all be coming over from the States for the shoot.

Following the successful filming of Celtic Woman’s US tour this past April in the U.S. (album to be released Jan. 2014 and coming to PBS in March 2014) Maggie Seidel is pleased to be producing her second special for Celtic Woman.  Having been involved from the very start nearly 10 years ago, and working closely with PBS along the way, she’s excited to bring this brand new special to PBS and excited fans around the globe.   “It’s an honor to work with such a talented group of people. Everyone is working hard to make this special something you and your family will enjoy and remember for years to come.” She’s also thrilled to be working with Grammy-Award Winning Producer Ned O’Hanlon as her Co-Producer.

Celtic Woman’s Musical Director, David Downes has been busy working on new music for the show and prepping for the nearly 100 performers, which will be on stage that night.
“At this point, it feels almost normal to have my Christmas lights, crackers, miniature tree and reindeer figures decorating my recording studio in Dublin. Christmas is really just around the corner.”

Director Russell Thomas is pleased to be joining the Celtic Woman team again as he was the director for “A Christmas Celebration” in 2007.

“It is a real joy to work with Celtic Woman again. 6 years ago when I worked on it last it was one of my favorite shows at the time. The whole crew was really enjoyable to work with – nothing was too much trouble. This time round we luckily have much of the same team but it’s a different show entirely. This show involves projection mapping as a way of creating truly wonderful Christmas landscapes – an ideal setting for girls with the voices of angels.”

New to the team, but certainly not to the industry is lighting designer Al Gurdon and set designer Matt Deely.

Daryn Crosbie is continuing as Celtic Woman’s stage director and choreographer on this show.  Daryn has been a prominent member of the team since 2006.

Another one of Celtic Woman’s cornerstones is dress designer Synan O’Mahony who is in the midst of designing what are sure to be some of Celtic Woman’s most beautiful and elegant dresses yet.

Celtic Woman’s HOME FOR CHRISTMAS special is sure to be this season’s must see!
